Lithium battery causes apartment fire in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – People living in an apartment complex in Fargo were evacuated on Tuesday afternoon for a fire.

The call came in just after 2:00 p.m. to The Nest apartments at 1781 35th Street South. The apartments are on the east side of I-29 in Fargo, just south of 13th Avenue South.

Battalion Chief Joe Mangin tells Valley News Live a lithium battery is to blame for starting the fire. He says the fire was contained to one unit on the 2nd floor and the sprinkler system was able to get the fire out.

Mangin says most of the damage in the unit is water damage, but there is some minor fire and smoke damage.

Most residents who were evacuated have been allowed back into their units.
