Deako has announced the launch of two new products today, the Simple Ventilation Timer, as well as a new family of outlets. While Deako has a one other ventilation-focused smart product in its catalog (a ceiling fan switch), the Simple Ventilation Timer interacts directly with an exhaust fan, making it one of the few Deako products that don’t interact with lighting in some way.
According to Derek Richardson, CEO and Founder of Deako, the new timer is meant to help homeowners save energy while still maintaining healthy air quality in the home, while also making it easier for builders to develop code-compliant housing using modular smart technology.
That’s because the Simple Ventilation Timer helps contribute to modern ventilation codes, such as ASHRAE 62.2 and CalGreen Title 24. It also allows builders to earn ENERGY STAR points for enhanced exhaust ventilation and makes it so that, in humid climates like Florida, builders can easily meet energy-efficient building standards, potentially qualifying them for compliance rebates.
Looking at the user experience, it operates similarly to Deako’s acclaimed Simple Timer, with an added feature—a concealed timer that autonomously manages ventilation when connected to an exhaust fan. According to Deako, this functionality is ideal for spaces like bathrooms that require periodic airflow to maintain air quality and moisture control.
According to Deako, the launch of the Simple Ventilation Timer is meant to be as beneficial to construction teams is it is to the modern consumer. By integrating into existing Deako systems, builders can leverage a comprehensive solution that meets both current and future regulatory requirements, while homeowners can cultivate a modern environment for themselves and their families.
Deako is also launching a new range of outlets and screwless covers include a standard decorator style outlet, a 20A GFCI and a dual USB outlet which are all crafted to match the clean lines of Deako’s light switches.
According to Deako, these provide homeowners with a cohesive aesthetic solution for visible areas like kitchens and bathrooms that wire in just like any other outlet.
A launch date has not been given for the outlets, with Deako only mentioning that they will be available “soon.”
