Boston College Blows 20-Point Lead to Louisville, Loses Third Consecutive Game

The Boston College Eagles (4-4, 1-3 ACC) football team lost its third consecutive game on Friday night 31-27 to the Louisville Cardinals (5-3, 3-2 ACC) during homecoming.

The Eagles got off to a quick 20-0 lead around the midway point of the second quarter from a pair of touchdown throws from quarterback Thomas Castellanos to tight end Kamari Morales, a 54-yarder and running back Treshaun Ward,  a four-yarder as well as a four-yard touchdown run by running back Kye Robichaux.

However, the Cardinals slowly chipped away at the deficit as they scored with less than two minutes remaining in the first half on a four-yard touchdown run by running back Isaac Brown.

In the second half, Louisville outscored Boston College 24-7 with a 23-yard field goal, an 18-yard touchdown run by Brown, and a pair of touchdown catches by tight end Nate Kurisky, a four-yarder and a six-yarder. The Cardinals scored the go-ahead touchdown with a little over seven minutes remaining in the game.

Boston College had three opportunities to execute a come form behind drive which included one that started at its own 47-yard line after an interception by defensive back KP Price, but couldn’t put a drive together.

On 4th-and-10 with six seconds remaining in the game, the Eagles attempted a Hail Mary, but Castellanos’ throw went into the back of the end zone as time expired to seal the game for the Cardinals.

The sole score from the Eagles in the second half was a six-yard touchdown reception by tight end Jeremiah Franklin in the third.
